1.2842 | O2 | SKS93

O2 mold steel is a low-alloy cold-work tool steel. The presence of a certain amount of vanadium in the steel helps refine the grain structure and reduces its sensitivity to overheating, while also providing high hardness and wear resistance.

Heat Treatment Process

Hardening: Heat the steel evenly to 790~820°C until the whole section reaches temperature. Then quench in oil to cool.
Annealing: Heat the steel to 680~720°C, hold it well at temperature, and then let it cool slowly inside the furnace.
Tempering: Heat the steel uniformly, hold it at the selected tempering temperature, and then allow it to cool in still air.
